Crown History 1997 to 2001

By Leroy and Erma Boyd. The main foundation of the crown is the half-round silver that indicates the three branches of the Navajo Nation Government which are Executive, Judicial and Legislative.

The half-round silver are symbols of 72 "Jaw" design which signifies "Power and Strength" for the Navajo Nation Nation, surrounded by "C" designs which are symbols of "Rain" which signifies "Good Prospects" and "Retain Navajo Language and Culture" on the Navajo Reservation.

The five clusters in the crown represents the five agencies within the Navajo reservation which are Eastern, Shiprock, Chinle, Fort Defiance and Western with a silver dome symbol, "Sky Bank" which signifies "Leading to Happiness."

Outside the half-round silver is surrounded with 110 petite pointed natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise which signifies the 110 chapters on the Navajo Nation.

Below the foundation is Coral, a symbol of "Protection." We all thank the Heavenly Father for protecting us daily. Pray for all Veterans who have served and defended our Freedom. Without their brave services, we would have never known freedom. Nations who pray together will always band together as one Nation.

2002-2007

In the middle of the crown is an emblem of the Navajo Tribal Seal. Eighty-eight stones represents Council Delegates of the Navajo Nation. The Seal is surrounded by 23 petite pointed Jet which signifies North also known as Winter with a sacred LaPlanta Mountain or Mountain Hesperus that is fastened by Rainbow and covered by Night. North is "Respect for Nature" and the element is Rock.

Twenty-three petite pointed natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise signifies South also known as Summer with a sacred Mount Taylor that is fastened by Stone Flint Knife and covered by Noon. The South is "Making a Living" and the element is Water.

Right Side: Twenty-one petite pointed White Shell signifies East also known as Spring with a sacred Blanca Peak that is fastened by Lightning and covered by Sunrise. East is "Standards for Life" and the element is Air.

Left Side: Twenty-one petite pointed Abalone signifies West also known as Autumn with sacred San Francisco Peak that is fastened by Sun Beam and covered by Sunset. West is "Social Competence" and the element is Fire.

The band of the crown is the most prestigious title "Miss Navajo Nation." One will wear the title "Miss Navajo Nation" and the "Crown" with grace and honor for the Navajo Nation. Walking in Beauty with happiness, a balance life, good health, harmony and surrounded with many blessings from the greatest creator, God.
