I am currently teaching for Chinle High School Vocational Education, coaching volleyball and girls basketball, and also an AIA Volleyball official. I enjoy working with my students and athletes and preparing them for the future and giving them support.
During my reign as Miss Navajo Nation, I focused on Youth, and I keep my heart and passion in this area. I currently use all my experience and teaching from my grandmother and mother as an educator, coach, and as a mother.
I am married to Elmer Murray of Ganado AZ, and have two beautiful girls, Cecelia and Tea-bah Murray. And residing in Chinle, AZ
What do you feel were your significant accomplishments during your reign as Miss Navajo Nation?
During my reign, my accomplishments among several would have to include recuriting 13 candidates for the pageant, traveling with the Navajo Code Talkers to Pearl Harbor, 2002 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, Paris, France for a television show, and international culture exchange in Japan.
What do you feel are your accomplishments in your career?
My accomplishments in continuing my education and becoming a business teacher. I had positive role models from my high school teachers and wanted to be like them. Now I teach in the same hallway as my high school business teacher. It's a great feeling to teacher in your home community.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishments include my family, education, and culture.
What do you feel are your accomplishments in your life?
Preserving and promoting my heritage, culture and language.
What are your fondest memories of your reign as Miss Navajo Nation?
Traveling, traveling, and traveling. Meeting several great people, and making new friends, and promoting culture!
What challenges did you face as Miss Navajo Nation?
My greatest challenge was being in two places at one time.
What was your greatest learning experience during your reign as Miss Navajo Nation?
Professionalism! Begin so young and fresh out of high school, I had growing pains. It was pretty difficult to convense adults of ideas and give recommendation at such a young age.
What was required of you when you were running for Miss Navajo Nation?
All creteria is the same except we weren't judge for fry bread making and butchering, we did it to have a big feast together.
What is your advice to future Miss Navajo Nations?
Believe in yourself, stand tall and proud, and represent you people, the way you represent your family.
Believe and you should succeed.
